ShutterLens is a public camera and lens directory. There are no accounts, no advertising scripts, no analytics, and the site sets no cookies. The only thing stored on your side is the camera bag, which lives in your browser's local storage.
Your camera and lens choices
The checker runs in your browser. The camera and lens you pick appear in the page URL so you can bookmark or share the combination. Changing a selection updates the URL without submitting anything.
A URL stays in your browser history and is visible to anyone you share it with. Loading a link sends its path and query string to the hosting service as part of the normal web request. Do not put private information into a shared URL.
Copying a link
“Copy link” asks your browser to write the URL to your clipboard. The site never reads your clipboard. Your browser decides whether to allow the write.
Your camera bag and shared kits
Your bag is stored on this device under the key shutterlens.bag.v1. It does not sync anywhere. Clearing site data removes it. If your browser blocks storage, the page tells you and you can keep a share link instead.
A kit link carries a snapshot of the kit title and equipment IDs in the URL fragment, after the # character. Browsers do not send the fragment to the server, but anyone who receives the link can read it. Do not put private information in a kit title.
Opening a shared kit does not replace your saved bag. Choosing “Add this gear to my bag” merges the equipment into your local bag. Later edits do not change links you already shared. Lens lab links carry the camera, lens, and focal length in the query string, which is sent with normal requests.
Corrections by email
A correction link opens your email app with the page and a short prompt filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it. If you do, ShutterLens and the email providers in between, including Cloudflare's forwarding service, receive your address, message, and any attachments. We use correction emails to look into the report and reply where appropriate.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves this site. Handling a web request means Cloudflare processes things like IP addresses, request data, and browser information to run and protect its network, so operational and security logs exist even though ShutterLens itself has no analytics.
Cloudflare describes how it treats visitors to customer sites under “End Users” in its privacy policy. ShutterLens does not promise that the hosting layer keeps no logs.
